Reader and Dr. Glass are reading an interesting book in the bookstore. For the record, The Hero With A Thousand Faces definitely couldn’t be finished in a day, let alone before the bookstore closes.

When I first heard of the Hero with A Thousand Faces, it was when I was researching the “Hero’s Journey” framework for writing stories. If you look it up, you can definitely see some informational summaries in articles and YouTube videos.
But when I finally picked up the book and read it myself. The book does not primarily offer a guideline for story-writing. Instead, it is a deep dive into the folklore of different cultures of mankind, leading to the wondering of the existence “collective consciousness”; how many culture’s legends seem to follow a similar journey of personal growth, despite different characters and different settings.

I’ll always be grateful that there are people in this world that I can share my silly interests with.
I am usually quiet in conversations, except when there are topics that I know so much that I finally feel confidant enough to contribute new information to the group. After all, if they already know what I know, what use is my input? But this premise is wrong from the start. It took me a long while to figure out that people aren’t really scouring for new knowledge when talking- that’s not the primary goal, at least. And that’s a comforting thing to know.

“So it’s romance novels?”
I’m spending a lot of my time studying anatomy and physiology these days, as I applied for a few online courses. The textbooks are quite fascinating. At first I doubt I will ever be able to remember of the unfamiliar concepts and terminology. But as I dive deeper into the course, memorising concepts seem more secondary because they just stick to your brain naturally the more you’re interested in the subject.

The job of an informant sounds pretty simple; listen to gossips and rumours. But Donna takes the role very seriously. After all, very few have the opportunity to be an investigator in your own school. But then again, maybe she just takes things seriously in general.

Dr. Glass seems very interested in all the books the shop has to offer. He flipped through many pages, scanned the blurbs, seemingly… looking for something. But what is it?
